Swing

A cricket ball can bend through the air on its way to the batter — not off the pitch, but in flight, a smooth curve that finishes before the ball ever lands. Bowlers have used it to win Test matches for more than a century; batters have been undone by it without quite seeing why; and for a long time no one could fully explain it.
